The slogan 'workers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your chains' looks like an empty one meant for public consumption. The CPM expected Mr.Somnath Chatterjee to remain as a 'bonded labour' . CPM would not have 'instructed' the Gullivar among the Lilliputans to demit his office as Speaker without ulterior motives. His expulsion from the party was 'the most unkindest cut of all' for Mr Somnath seen against the backdrop of his contribution as a righteous politician. His decision to take to sanyas is unfortunate. Somnath not only exposed the 'snakes in suits', but subjected himself to the 'inner voice' we call conscience. His decision not to contest the forthcoming election is unfortunate, but a right one . Democracy's loss occasioned by the departure of stalwarts among parlimentarians due to the commissions and omissions of political parties mirrors absence of inner party democracy.

Time and tide wait for no man. Time is said to be the essence of a contract. The dawn and dusk are time bound. In other words, there is a limit to everything. But the ingenuity of man, courtesy, the Almighty, is endless.I can only wish that time favours you in your 'wild goose chase'
